Green Pear Smoothie

ImageImage

I know green smoothies can be intimidating but they are just as delicious, and have the potential when done well to be even better, than regular smoothies.  I love them and get excited every time I have kale (my favorite green) to make them with!  So here is today’s green smoothie, just letting you know it makes a lot so have something to store extra in (in fridge with a lid).  It’s sweet and as I always like to remind people when it comes with greens, doesn’t taste like grass!!!

Ingedients

Fresh banana

Frozen banana

3 ripe pears (peeled and sliced up)

Kale or favorite green, such as spinach or mixed greens (2 to 3 generous handfuls)

Almond milk (add as necessary)

Agave (to taste)

Cinnamon (about 1 tablespoon)

Hemp powder (about 2 tablespoons)

Blend the pears, bananas, kale (or other green), and almond milk together on high, adding almond milk as necessary.  Then add the cinnamon and hemp powder and blend again.  Finally add agave as necessary according to taste.  Also, feel free to add any more of any other desired ingredients according to taste.

I poured into two glasses and the remainder into a large jar for later.  I topped it off with agave, hemp seeds, a baby kale leaf, and goji berries.

As always, be creative and enjoy!

PS my dad loved the green smoothie so I hope you all enjoy it too.

SUPER Green Smoothie

Image

This smoothie is very green but still delicious and is full of a bunch of great flavors.  However, if you don’t like green smoothies this isn’t a great one for “beginners” because it does taste very green (although I love that and hopefully you will too soon if you are a green smoothie virgin!)

Ingredients

Two kiwis

Two ripe bananas

Kale

Almond milk

two tablespoon hemp

honey to taste

Remove the skin from the kale and blend up with banana and almond milk, adding to achieve fluidity.  Then add the hemp and kale.  Finally add honey (or any other sweetener) to taste!

I then poured into a bunch of cups because it made a lot and topped with hemp seeds and coconut shavings.

Chocolate blueberry superfood

Chocolate blueberry superfood

This is one of my all time favorite smoothies to make variations of. The recipe varies a little bit so the taste does as well because I usually don’t use exact measurement but here is a rough recipe

Ingredient:
two bananas
almond milk ( at least 2/3 cup but it depends on how thick you want the smoothie)
handful of blueberries (preferably fresh)
two spoonfuls of cacao
spoonful of maca powder
teaspoon of cinnamon
1 to 3 dates
agave or choice of sweetener to taste

Basically you just blend everything up together and add more almond milk until it is the right consistency. If you want a fresher taste and don’t want to taste the superfood powders as much, just add more blueberries.

To garnish, I used sliced banana, blueberries, hemp seeds, agave, and vegan chocolate chips but have fun with the recipe and the decorating!
